The Communications Director for New Patriotic Party (NPP), Yaw Buaben Asamoah has jumped to the defense of President Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo whose Presidency has been tagged as corrupt according to Afrobarometer Round 8 survey.
According to the Afrobarometer ,Ghana’s Presidency has been ranked 6th in terms of corruption.
According to the NDC, the Akufo-Addo government has performed abysmally in all fronts of our national life such as, the direction of the country, management of the economy, job creation, corruption, according to the Afrobarometer report.
But the Adentan MP has urged the main opposition to desist from doing unnecessary propaganda with the Afrobarometer Round 8 survey.
” He believes it would be extremely difficult for anybody to tag the presidential candidate with corruption or any related criminal act, considering his dislike for material things,” Yaw Buaben Asamoah told Kwame Tutu on Anopa Nkomo on Accra-based Kingdom FM 107.7
He says it is wrong to tag Akufo-Addo as corrupt and accused the opposition NDC of fabricating corruption allegations against his appointees.
The report also indicated that Ghana Police Service is still the highest among public institutions as the latest Afrobarometer survey of the Centre for Democratic Development (CDD) indicates that 57 per cent of Ghanaians think the police is corrupt most or all of the time while 32 per cent think they are corrupt some of the time.
“The army, religious leaders and the presidency are the most trusted public institutions in the country. So we have 72 percent saying that they trust the army, 63 percent saying they trust the religious leaders a lot or somewhat and 58 percent saying they trust the president and the officials and his office a lot. While opposition political parties, local government officials and tax officials are the least trusted.”
Afrobarometer conducts face-to-face interviews in the language of the respondent’s choice with nationally representative samples.
The Afrobarometer team in Ghana, led by the Ghana Center for Democratic Development (CDD-Ghana), interviewed 2,400 adult Ghanaians between 16 September and 3 October 2019.
