Deputy Energy Minister, William Owuraku Aidoo has disclosed that the Ministry served notice before shedding loads to pave way for maintenance work to be done.

“Kwame, in January the Ministry announced through the media that there was going to be major works on the pipeline, the 500 km pipeline from Nigeria to Ghana which supplies gas to mainly the Tema enclave. We stated that there was going to be cleaning out [in] the gas pipeline and check on the integrity of the inner lining of the gas pipeline.”
“So we’re not giving excuses, excuses for what?. Notice was served early this year and the Ministry was specific about dates” he added.
Hon. Owuraku Aidoo downplayed calls for a timetable in the ongoing power cuts in the country.
“We are not yet at that phase of a load scheduling. It’s going to take few days to fix the challenge. It’s not something you just predict and plan for but it will end soon,” he told show host.
The Minister appealed to Ghanains to remain calm “while we work around the clock to bring the supply of electricity to normalcy.”
