We need serious people in parliament not dreadlocks – Twitter users mock Obour

Thousands of Ghanaians have taken to Twitter and Facebook to express their excitement after reports that Bice Osei Kufour, also known as Obour, the former president of the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) has lost the Asante Akyim South New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary primaries.

The parliamentary primaries held today, June 20, 2020, saw Obuor polling 296 votes out of 656 total votes cast. He lost to the incumbent Member of Parliament (MP) Kwaku Asante-Boateng after a recount.

The former entertainer has become a subject of ridicule on social media.

He was highly criticized for not working well enough to improve the entertainment industry while he served as the president of MUSIGA.

Some social media users labeled him as a ‘stomach politician’ who has nothing good to offer to Ghana’s parliamentary institution.
