The Head Coach of Obuasi Ashanti Gold Football Club Bashiru Hayford has high hopes for his team qualifying to the next stage of the CAF Champions League after their lone goal win last Sunday against MO Bejaia at the Len Clay Sports Stadium.
Defender Tijani Joshua scored the only goal for the Miners in the second half to give them an advantage ahead of the second leg tie.
“My tactics worked for me in the first half. I accelerated my opponent to feel fatigue and took advantage in the second half but, unfortunately, we could not score more goals,” Coach Bashiru boasted.
Ashanti Gold will travel to Algeria for the return encounter scheduled for February 28.
Winner of the two-legged tie will advance to the 1/16 stage of the competition where they would face the winner of the match between Tunisia’s Club Africain and A.S. Tanda of Cote D’Ivoire.
