We are ready for “war” in 2020 – Hanna Bissiw

National women’s Organizer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Hannah Louisa Bissiw, is promising ‘war’ if her party loses the 2020 general elections.

She claims the just ended referenda on creation of six additional regions were rigged by the Electoral Commission (EC) in favour of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government and considers that as a ‘dress rehearsal’ for the 2020 general elections.

“We know that in 2020 we are entering the field for general election. We have now realized that in 2020 it is going to be very difficult but we have resolved that when they bring it on we will match them boot for boot.”

She launched a scathing attack on President Akufo-Addo and the Electoral Commission Chairperson Jean Mensa, claiming the EC Boss has been appointed by the president to help him retain power.

She also accused Ghanaians of playing the ‘ostrich’ by remaining indifferent to the machinations of the EC Boss, who was recently appointed.

“Akufo-Addo has come to destroy our democracy. We are telling him that we shall strip on the streets to show our disgust over the way they are doing things in the country.”

“Our marriages are collapsing because of bad governance. Drivers are not able to make money, farmers are struggling, cocoa farmers are being cheated, spare parts dealers can’t clear their goods from the ports; the health sector is in disarray.

She said “it’s possible the majority of the women in the NDC did not work during the last election, but we have put things in place for them to campaign this time round in 2020 and bring the party back to power. We will not put out our strategy. We know what we are doing.”
