Attorney General’s full advice to Atta Akyea on Saglemi Housing Project

Adomonline.com has exclusive access to the advice given to Ghana’s Ministry of Works and Housing concerning the controversial Saglemi Affordable Housing project by the Attorney General.

Details of the document have the AG advising the Ministry of Works and Housing to refer to the issue surrounding the project to the appropriate authority for criminal investigation.

The Saglemi project situated in the Ningo-Prampram District of the Greater Accra Region has come in for some public scrutiny after revelations that there have been some variations to the project without recourse to Parliament.

The said variations have reduced the $200,000,000-project from the initial 5,000 housing units to 1,502.

In the advice dated May 8, 2019, and addressed to Mr Samuel Atta Akyea who is the minister of Works and Housing, the AG also advised among other things to demand Specific Performance of the contract of the obligations of the contractor of demand a repayments as well as interest subject to the conduct of value-for-money audit.
