Gov’t releases GHC 49m to GES

The Ministry of Finance has authorized the Controller and Accountant-General to release an amount of GH¢ 49,998.626.72 to the Ghana Education Service ( GES).

According to a statement dated September 10, 2019, and signed by Deputy Minister of Finance, Abena Osei-Asare, the Ministry indicated that the funds are for the payment of outstanding transfer grant and other allowances to qualified staff of the GES from 2017-2019.

Breakdown

It revealed that outstanding transfer grant for 2017 was GH¢ 13,999.999.38 and other allowances amounting to GH¢ 4,330.688.00 for that year.

In 2018, it said, total outstanding transfer grant was GH¢ 12,601,636.99 and other allowances standing at GH¢ 3,625,088.00.

For 2019, the outstanding transfer grant was GH¢ 12,346.050.00 and other allowances amounting to GH¢ 3, 095,164.00.
