The One-District-One-Factory (1D1F) project under the Nana Addo led
administration, is earnestly creating jobs for inmates at the Nsawam
Medium Prisons and other areas in the country.
This is because a tissue paper manufacturing company set up to assist
in the reformation of prisoners’ agenda of the government is in full
operation.
Speaking on the Tuesday edition of the Anopa Nkomo hosted by Kwame Tutu
on Kingdom FM 107.7, the Deputy Minister of Information, Pius Enam
Hadzide said the company, Brompton Portfolio Limited, is producing
toilet rolls, tissue papers, paper towels and packaging products for
both domestic and industrial use.
‘These products, he reiterated, are traded under the brand name SOFTEX’.
Mr Enam Hadzide emphasized that in a broader spectrum, this will reduce
the pressure on the cedi adding that the production of fruits will
reduce the quantity of export into the country.
According to him, the government has targeted 181 factories by the end
of the year adding that 50 have so far been completed and 22 more
nearing completion.
