NDC throws out chief over plans to contest Ato Forson

Ranking member of the finance, Cassiel Ato Forson.

A divisional chief at the Enyan Denkyira Traditional Area, Nana Kofi Nyamekye Waduudu has been denied nomination forms to contest the upcoming National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary primaries against ranking member of the finance, Cassiel Ato Forson.

According to NDC executives, Nana Nyamekye Waduudu who is a gazetted Guantoahene of the Enyan Denkyira Traditional Area has a murder case which is still pending before the Cape Coast High Court 1 and therefore does not qualify by law to take part in the impending contest.

They also argue that article 94 of 1992 constitution bars chiefs from engaging in active partisan politics or being elected as Members of Parliament (MPs) which informed their decision to decline to sell the nomination forms to the divisional chief

At a press conference at Ajumako after the denied chief Nana Nyamekye Waduudu mobilized some unknown NDC party members to demonstrate against his rejection, the NDC executives claimed the chief was also remanded in the Winneba prisons some years ago.

Communications Officer of Ajumako-Enyan-Esiam Constituency, Mr. Galahad Alex Andoh stated that his colleagues declined selling the forms to Nana Nyamekye Waduudu because none of the entire 1,280 branch and constituency executives know him as a member of the NDC in Ajumako before he attempted picking the nomination forms.

“Consequently, based on the guidelines 2C as provided by National Executive Commission( NEC) of the party, a person wishing to contest a parliamentary candidate of the party must be a known and active member of a branch of the party in the constituency for at least four years”, they argued.

Mr. Alex Andoh reiterated that the nomination form is on sale to only qualified party members and not to the general public as being claimed by Nana Kofi Nyamekye Waduudu that the form should be sold to him even “if he doesn’t qualify”.

“Who in Ajumako constituency NDC will choose Nana Kofi Nyamekye Waduudu over the Incumbent Member of Parliament (MP)”, Mr. Ato Forson he quizzed.

He therefore threw a challenge to Nana Nyamekye Waduudu that whoever sent him to destroy the God’s chosen son Ato Forson will never succeed since the NDC in Ajumako-Enyan-Esiam constituency is solidly behind Ato Forson.
