Let’s trumpet our achievements – Kufuor to NPP

Ex-President John Agyekum Kufuor has urged members of the ruling New Patriotic Party(NPP) to tout the several unprecedented achievements of the Akufo-Addo led government.

According to him, it is very important that the NPP tells its own story of its great successes chalked in the three years of being in power as the country ushers into the 2020 general elections.

Speaking addressing over 6,500 delegates at the ongoing NPP annual Delegates conference at the Trade Fair Centre in Accra today, Sunday 22nd December 2019, ex-President Kufuor recounted that the party has a bitter lesson in the past to learn from not trumpeting its achievement, adding that the party should not let the sad history repeat itself.

“Our president government under the able leadership of President Akufo-Addo is doing very well but we’ve got to tell our story. If we do not trumpet our achievement and there are very many, no one will tell them for us. We have had bitter lessons in the past to learn from this score and we should not let the sad history repeat itself.”

“We are called upon to have a missionary zeal in the work of governance and at the same time spread the good news of the New Patriotic Party government. The news of pragmatism in transforming the nation with humility as missionaries do. We must not allow ourselves to be straight-jacketed into sterile ideology. If we are able to do this Ghanaians I believe will continue to reward us with multiple successive mandates.”

The conference themed “We have performed better, four more to do more” is featuring the party’s constituency, regional as well as national officers.

Over 6,500 delegates across the 16 Regions are attending the conference which will also provide the platform for deliberations as well as other matters of the party’s interest going into the 2020 Presidential and Parliamentary elections.

The National Delegates Conference is the supreme governing body of the NPP which brings together over 6,500 party officers across the country including founding fathers, branches abroad, TESCON affiliates, Members of Parliament and government appointees when the party is in power.
