No Amount Of Demo Will Prevent Us From Doing A New Register

Deputy Commissioner of the EC, Dr Eric Asare Bossman, has stated that no amount of demonstrations will prevent them from compiling a new voter’s register.

The Electoral Commission (EC) says it is in the process of changing the current voter register for the 2020 election.
The largest opposition Party NDC and other smaller parties staged demonstrations in Tamale against EC’s decision to compile a new voter’s register.

But According to Deputy Commissioner of the EC, Dr Eric Asare Bossman, says no amount of demonstration will prevent them from doing a new register to ensure free and fair elections in the 2020 elections.

“The Commission has made it very clear that looking at where we find ourselves now, it will be more appropriate and better for us to be able to compile a new register to guarantee and ensure that we have a credible, free and fair election,” he told Joy FM.

He continued: “We have to do the right thing for country and God and in the thinking of the Commission we will still do a lot of engagements with the parties”. The Electoral Commission (EC) last week stressed the need for the compilation of new voters register for the upcoming general election adding that the exercise is not a waste of resources.
