Chairman of the Ashanti Regional New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Boasiako has stated that Ghanaians will troop in massively to take part in the upcoming New Voter’s Registration Exercise to be conducted by the Electoral Commission (EC).
According to him, Ghanaians are eager to vote and maintain President Akufo-Addo to do more for them.
Speaking on Wontumi Morning Show on Kumasi based Wontumi Radio and TV with Oheneba Nana Asiedu, Chairman Wontumi said Ghanaians are appreciative of President Akufo-Addo’s economic policies that have lifted the country from its poor state orchestrated by the Mahama administration.
The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has been ‘fighting’ the EC over its decision to compile a new voters’ register.
According to them, there is nothing wrong with the old register which was used in 2016; apart from that, they claim a new one is expensive.
Recently the NDC has accused the EC and the National Identification Authority (NIA) of conniving to rig the upcoming election in favour of the ruling government.
Background
The Electoral Commission has announced it will procure a new Biometric Voter Management System as well as compile a new Voters Register for the 2020 general elections.
The Commission says it took the decision to procure the new Biometric Voter Management System on the advice of its IT team and external consultants “to the effect that, it would be prudent to acquire a new system rather than refurbish the current system.”
