The Minority Leader in Parliament, Haruna Iddrisu has indicated that his outfit will resist any attempt by Electoral Commission (EC) to compile a new voter’s register for the 2020 Elections.
He disclosed that the Electoral Commission’s reasons for the compilation of a new register is the high rate of manual verification, then the problem is with the software, not the voters’ register.
“The context is, don’t just think about your staff, think about the health, safety and lives of citizens who will be queueing for the purpose of getting registered,” Mr. Iddrisu said in aninterview.
“What I do know about the Electoral Commission is that they have come to Parliament with two defective instruments. They are just not competent enough and they must deal with their competence,” he said.
However, the NDC condemned the EC for misleading the public because according to them, the issue of a new voters’ register was not extensively discussed.
