Founder and General Overseer of New Life in Christ in London Rev. Mark Adu Gyamfi has cautioned pastors and prophets in the country to put a stop to making what he describes as ‘fake’ elections predictions as he believes Ghanaians no longer need such predictions.
As the date for the 2020 general election approaches, some supposed ‘men of God’ have been making predictions mainly centred on the flag bearers of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Speaking in an interview with OTEC FM’s Louis Gyamerah, the chairman of London based Roshview Group of companies stated that what Ghana as a nation needs now is a workable joint-action plan from the key stakeholders to effectively sensitise the electorate as they exercised their right to vote in the upcoming polls.
According to Rev. Mark Adu Gyamfi, pollsters who analyse demographic and socio-anthropological data, as well as previous election patterns to forecast possible election outcomes are being professional and should be encouraged to keep up with their verifiable methods but warns that any self-styled prophet of God, however, claims either through clairvoyance, spiritism or any other medium to predict the winner of an election, no media outlet should give such a false prophet the platform to mislead the good people of Ghana.
He stated that there were false prophets in the system whose mode of operation, utterances and behaviour constituted great embarrassment to the Church in general and the prophetic ministry in particular.
“Election predictions by pastors, Muslim clerics, traditional priests, astrologers, occultists, spiritists, witches and other medium practitioners tend to have negative impact on the voting citizenry, thereby disenfranchising them” The New Life in Christ Ministry fonder added
“The truth is simple; if different so-called prophets prophesy different leaders emerging after elections, is it not just ‘try and error forecast’ to mislead and deceive the people?” Rev. Adu Gyamsi quizzed.
He said false prophets would bring confusion on the land therefore in his view, every Ghanaian must fully co-operate with the Electoral Commission, security and other electoral stakeholders to understand that ensuring harmonious, peaceful co-existence and the spirit of tolerance before, during and after the election is not an option but a priority to be vigorously pursued.
