AUDIO: I don’t want any 3rd term, retiring to rest in Kyebi- Akufo-Addo

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has stated that under no circumstance will he ever be persuaded to amend the constitution of Ghana to contest the general elections for a third term.

Speaking on Kumasi-based Pure FM in an exclusive interview with Kwame Adinkrah monitored by MyNewsGh.com on the Guinean and Malian experience, the President remarked in a humorous manner that he doesn’t want to get in any form of trouble when the host asked him if he’s also considering amending Ghana’s constitution to seek re-election.

“Adinkrah, do you want me to get into trouble? I have seen that you want me to have issues. No. It is completely out of the question. Completely out of the question. 7th January 2025, goodbye Ghana, thank you. Probably end up in Kyebi to rest.” He stated on Pure FM amidst laughter. The President was in the Ashanti region on a four-day working visit inspecting the progress of projects he’s initiated. President of Ghana Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo who is the Chairman of the Economic Community of West Africa (ECOWAS) had earlier revealed that the organization has learnt lessons from the Coup and is reviewing its protocols to strengthen the growth of democracy in the sub-region.
The President said he was against third terms of some Presidents indicating that it’s imperative ECOWAS outlaws it in any country.
