I didn’t order the E-Levy designed cake; it was a birthday gift from a businessman – Majority Leader reveals

The Majority Leader in Parliament, Hon. Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu has disclosed that he received the E-Levy-designed cake as a gift on his birthday from a businessman.

The Suame Member of Parliament was joined by several bigwigs of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) on Thursday, February 3, 2022, to celebrate his 65th birthday.

Yesterday, pictures and videos of the birthday party popped up where an e-levy designed cake was spotted at the event.

In the midst of the controversy the caked has caused, Hon. Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu has explained how it ended up at his party.

In an interview, the long-serving Parliamentarian has revealed that he received the cake as a birthday present from a businessman.

“The person who brought the cake as a gift said all I think about these days is the e-levy and so he decided to design e-levy cake for me. Everyone gathered laughed over it. That was the fun side of it. I didn’t order for e-levy cake. The person who brought it is not even a family member,” the Majority Leader shared as quoted by Class News.

Pushed to disclose the identity of the businessman, Hon. Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu argued that the businessman is not known as an NPP member and it’s unnecessary to unveil his identity to the public.

“I’ll not disclose the identity of the person who brought the cake because he’s a businessman and this can affect his business. He is not known in NPP status and it’s unnecessary to disclose his identity,” he stressed.
