David Boakye, the Bono East Regional Secretary for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has said that ex-President Mahama is jealous of Dr. Bawumia.
Expressing his concerns about John Mahama’s Ghana at a crossroad speech he said, ‘’Mahama’s alternative solution was full of lies. The moment he said the Economic Management Team led by Dr Mahamudu Bawumia should be reconstituted, I knew he was jealous of Bawumia. Mahama was the vice president for three and half years and within that short period he was tagged with corruption scandals. And the President at the time demanded he should be investigated to the extent that a committee was set up headed by William Amoah to delve into the case. Bawumia on the other hand has been the vice president for six years and no corruption case has been labeled against him. You are only jealous of him and his mental power”.
On the 2nd of May 2022, ex-president John Mahama gave a presentation on the theme ‘’Ghana at a Crossroad” at the Kempinski Hotel in Accra. Quoting his second point on his 13 alternative measures for the country’s economic challenges he said,
“It goes without saying that the Economic Management Team, has failed and must be reconstituted immediately, with fresh ideas and perspectives. Having supervised the worst public debt buildup, the worst budget deficit, the worst debt to GDP ratio, the worst credit ratings and downgrades, the worst-performing currency in the world, the worst crisis of confidence in our economy, the highest fuel prices ever, ever-rising inflation and unprecedented hardships, the current Head of the Economic Management Team (EMT) has clearly fallen from his ivory tower as a self-styled economic messiah to a poster boy for economic mismanagement and his leadership of the EMT is no longer tenable”.
Boakye indicated that Mahama is inconsistent in lying.
“When he went to Harvard, he said president Akufo-Addo has wasted 33 billion cedis of covid-19 funds and during his recent speech he said government has wasted 30 billion cedis of covid funds. He is not someone Ghanaian’s can trust”, he pointed out.
“Even as a president, you cannot intellectually compare yourself to Bawumia as a vice president”, he added.
