You’re taking IMF loan yet calling on Africans to stop begging – Ex-Nigerian senator blasts Akufo-Addo

Former senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria Shehu Sani has dragged President Nana Addo for calling on African leaders to stop begging for financial support.
President Nana Addo has been backlashed by Ghanaians and other citizens of other countries over his recent comments to African leaders. Many people have branded him a hypocrite following his comment.

A few hours after Ghana was assisted with $3 billion from the International Monetary Fund, IMF, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo asked African leaders to stop pleading for assistance and instead spend their money in the region. This he claimed, is what will make the continent respectable.

“If we stop being beggars and spend African money inside the continent, Africa will not need to ask for respect from anyone,” he charged fellow leaders. “

We will get the respect we deserve. If we make it prosperous as it should be, respect will follow.”

“Africans are more resilient outside the continent than inside. We must bear in mind that to the outside world, [there’s] nothing like Nigeria, Ghana or Kenya, we are simply Africans. Our destiny as people depends on each other.”

It seems the comment made by President Nana Addo did not sit well with the former senator o Nigeria, Shehu Sani. He took to his Twitter and wrote;

“Ghana’s President is collecting IMF loan with the right hand and using the left hand to warn African Governments against begging the west for money,” the tweet read.
