I’ll revamp fishing sector if you vote for me–Mahama

During his “Building the Ghana We Want” tour, Mahama engaged with fisherfolk in Axim, located in the Western Region.

He listened to the matters of the locals who expressed frustration over the lack of access to premix fuel for fishing purposes.

In reaction, Mahama berated the ruling NPP government, holding them responsible for the detrimental impact on artisanal fishers.

He highlighted the successful establishment of the Landing Beach Committee during his time in power, emphasizing that membership was open to all. This committee ensured the fair and efficient distribution of premix fuel.

However, Mahama lamented that the current government has allowed fuel diversion and mismanagement to reach alarming levels.

He accused the NPP government of politicizing the allocation process, further exacerbating the challenges faced by fisherfolk.

John Mahama declared his commitment to enhancing the fisheries sector and vowed considerable changes if elected in the upcoming general elections.

“I know that by God’s grace, the NDC will win the elections, and I promise to improve the fisheries sector if elected in the 2024 polls. I will give you a sector minister who will perform better,” he said.
