The only project Akufo-Addo completed in Western Region is his statue – Kwesimintsim MP

Philip Fiifi Buckman, the Member of Parliament for Kwesimintsim in the Western Region, has condemned the outgone New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration starving the region of development.

He says the government in eight years, failed to complete a single project in the region, with the exception of the sculpture of President Akufo-Addo at the Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital.

Speaking with Captain Smart on Onua  TV’s extensive coverage of the presidential inauguration, the private legal practitioner and MP said they will bring all the MPs on board to complete all the projects the NPP government started and couldn’t complete.

“When Mahama came to Kwesimintsim the last time I told him that there is no project in the Western Region started by the NPP that was completed except Akufo-Addo’s statue which was completed and commissioned. But we have decided that, every project that was started, we will finish it,” he said Wednesday, January 08, 2025.

He added that President Mahama has had firsthand information on many of the projects that have stalled in the region and intends to get them completed as he takes office.

“When President Mahama came to Takoradi he toured the place and saw our challenges including our harbour, railway, roads and institutions that are supposed to work. Fortunately for us we have 15 out of the 17 constituencies in the Western region and we’ll rope Hon. Boamah of Effia and Kobby of Takoradi in so we all come together with one voice and a concerted effort to push for Western to get what we deserve,” he stated.

He bemoaned how residents of the region have been taken for granted with all the resources they provide for the state.

“Our cocoa, bauxite, oil, diamond and a lot of things earned us the accolade; ‘the best comes from the West’. But because we are suffering from leadership challenge, we were not getting what we deserved. We are going to speak in unison to ensure we get what we deserve.

“When you come to our area (Kwesimintsim), the road network is poor. When you go to the various communities, it is bad. We have leaders who occupy the seats and others who work,” he stated.
