The Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) has arrested a 56-year-old Nigerian national, Uchechukwu Chima, following an intelligence-led operation in Oyarifa, a suburb of Accra.
The operation, conducted on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, uncovered a significant quantity of narcotic substances at the suspect’s hideout.
Field tests on the seized substances confirmed the presence of cocaine and heroin, with a total weight of approximately 192kg of cocaine and 0.42kg of heroin.
The street value of the confiscated drugs is estimated at $2.1 million.
According to NACOC, Uchechukwu Chima had been a long-time target and was suspected of being the mastermind behind several past drug seizures and arrests.
His capture marks a major victory in Ghana’s ongoing fight against drug trafficking.
In a statement, NACOC emphasized that this seizure has prevented a substantial quantity of drugs from reaching the streets, potentially saving countless lives.
The Commission reaffirmed its commitment to making Ghana an unprofitable destination for drug traffickers and ensuring the safety and well-being of both Ghanaians and the international community.
