The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has placed a temporary ban on all funerals across the Ashanti Kingdom from September 1 to 18, 2025, as preparations are made for the burial of the late Asantehemaa, Nana Konadu Yiadom III.
According to the announcement made on Thursday, August 21, during the one-week observance of the queen mother’s passing, the final funeral rites will begin on Sunday, September 14, and end on Thursday, September 18, culminating in her burial later that evening.
On the day of the final burial, residents within Kumasi and parts of the Ashanti Region will be required to remain indoors. Additionally, all shops and markets will remain closed as a mark of respect and to ensure solemnity during the rites.
