Education Minister Haruna Iddrisu has expressed his expectation that Vice President Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang will someday become Ghana’s first female President.
Speaking during her official visit to the Ministry of Education on September 24, 2025, Iddrisu defined the event as a great personal honour.
He noted that her rise to the second-highest office in the country marks a significant milestone for women in leadership.
“It is my pride and honour to welcome you back to the Ministry of Education, this time in an elevated capacity as the first female Vice President of our Republic.
“It is my prayer that God will give you long life and good health…that you will be elevated to become the first female President. May Allah grant you the strength,” he said.
The Education Minister also praised Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang for her lifelong dedication to education and her tireless advocacy for gender equality and inclusivity, describing her as a “champion of education, gender rights, gender interests, and inclusiveness in the pursuit of government policy.”
He further highlighted his long-standing collaboration with the Vice President, recalling a shared covenant over the years to advance education and gender-centred initiatives.
Prof. Opoku-Agyemang, who once served as Minister of Education, was warmly received by officials and staff of the ministry, many of whom celebrated her historic achievement as Ghana’s first female Vice President.
