Three arrested over murder of Abamba queen mother

The Ghana Police Service has arrested three suspects in connection with the killing of the Queenmother of Abamba, Nana Serwaa Asaamaa Kuma Gyan, near Amantin in the Atebubu area.

In a press release, the Bono East Regional Police Command said the arrests were made following an intelligence-led operation.

The suspects have been identified as Rafiu Haruna, Mufawu Adamu and Michael Owusu Spermi. They are currently in police custody assisting with ongoing investigations.

According to the statement, the queen mother was shot at her residence near the Methodist Church area, Atebubu on February 25, 2026.

Police said investigations are ongoing and efforts are underway to identify and arrest other individuals who may have been involved in the incident.

The Command assured the public that it remains committed to ensuring that all persons connected to the killing are identified and brought to justice.
