Nkoranza NPP youth defect to NDC over Techiman capital

The people of Nkoranza had earlier demonstrated for the regional capital status to be given to them

Some youth group in Nkoranza, numbering about 60 and claiming to be members of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), say they have defected to the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) in protest of the president’s failure to name Nkoranza as the capital of the newly created Bono East Region.

In a press conference in Nkoranza hours after President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo named Techiman as the regional capital, they said they are no longer interested being members of the ruling party.

According to the youth, the president, then NPP presidential candidate, had promised the people of Nkoranza during his campaign that he will make Nkoranza the capital of the Bono East Region after its creation.

They also cited the failure of the government to pay all investments of customers of DKM, God is Love and other  defunct financial companies as some of their reasons for jilting the party.
