A SUSPECTED murderer, Yire-Naa Lawrence, 37, has been arrested at Yefri near Donkorkrom in the Nkoranza North District of the Bono Region, after slashing the neck of one Kwame, 25, with a machete.
Yire-Naa then fled after allegedly committing the murder on Monday evening, but was arrested after a pursuit the next day at Nadowli – a village near Yefri. When he was arrested, the machete he allegedly used to commit the murder was still with him.
District Police Commander DSP C.K. Dogbatse ordered that the suspect be sent to Busunya Police Station for further investigations.
Speaking to the media, brother of the suspect, Naa Saglo, explained that he, together with the suspect and the victim, was in the same house when the incident happened.
According to him, after eating together, he decided to go to bed, leaving the suspect and the victim behind on a bench.
He said later, at about 9:00 pm, his wife saw Kwame lying motionless on the bench with a deep cut on his throat, but the suspect was nowhere to be found.
The body was consequently sent to the Holy Family Hospital morgue at Techiman for preservation and autopsy.
Regional police spokesman Chief Inspector Augustine Oppong later confirmed the unfortunate incident to DAILY GUIDE on phone.
