Police in the Northern Region have arrested three suspects for allegedly defrauding some traders at the Tamale market. The suspects are said to have purchased food items to the tune of 22 billion old Ghana cedis between 2017 and 2018.
According police sources, the suspects, Fuseini Adams age 49 years, Alhassan Karim age 54 and Saharatu Adams known as Lizy age 39 years bought maize and beans from the market women in Tamale to the tuned of 22 billion old Ghana CEDI’s between 2017 and 2018 under the pretext of bringing the money in two weeks time.
But after that, the suspects went into hiding. They have been on Police wanted list until Match 8, 2019 when Police had information that the suspects have been arrested by the BNI in Kumasi.
The Police in company of the complaints went to Kumasi and brought the three suspects to Tamale on Match 11, 2019 to assist in investigations.
The case docket has been forwarded to the Attorney General Office in Tamale for the suspects to be prosecuted at high court Match 14, 2019.
Further information gathered by the police indicates that suspect Saharatu Adams a.k.a Lizy is a professional fraudster and has duped a lot of people in Kumasi and Ejura.
The Police says a lot of people are still coming in to lodge a complaint against her.
