Kintampo: Ten-year-old shot dead, brother wounded after man opened fire on them in a farm

A 10-year-old boy was shot dead and his brother, 9, sustained injuries when unidentified gunmen attacked them at Krabonso-Adiambra, a small community in the Kintampo South District of the Bono East Region.

The deceased, Gabriel Yinye, and the injured, Kanto Yinye, were primary one (1) students at Adiambra D/A primary school.

The incident, according to relatives of the children, happened in the late hours of Monday, 11th November, 2019 close to their farm on which they were working.

The relatives narrated they were working on the farm when Gabriel and Kanto sought permission to go search for some particular fruits they usually searched for whenever they went to farm, when the incident occurred.

Body of the deceased, according to them, was conveyed to the village whilst the injured was rushed to the emergency Unit of the Kintampo Municipal Hospital for treatment.

As at the time reporters arrived at the Hospital, the injured was being prepared to be referred to the Holy Family Hospital in Techiman for further treatment.

Nurses on duty at the time said the referral was necessitated by a revelation through X-ray that there were about ten (10) bullets in Kanto’s body, six (6) of which were located in his pelvis, two (2) in his chest and two (2) in one of his arms.

Kanto, in the company of a nurse and some relatives, left the Kintampo Municipal Hospital in an ambulance at exactly 7:58pm.

Police are yet to comment on the matter.
