Hotels and bars can resume operations; night clubs remain closed-Tourism Authority

The Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) has in a press statement announced that hotels, drinking bars and restaurants in the country can return to full operation but must observe strict social distancing protocols.

“All hotels can operate as normal and host their guests, subject to the specified elevated hygiene protocols and social distancing,” the Tourism Authority stated.

It added; “Drinking bars can operate while observing appropriate social distancing and hygiene protocols”.

According to the GTA the directive is in line with measures put in place by government to minimize the spread of the virus.

The statement said even though hotels, restaurants and drinking spots can operate, night clubs are to remain closed.

“All night clubs must remain closed.” – the statement read.

President Akufo-Addo in his 9th address to the nation extended the ban on public gatherings to 31st May, 2020 which includes religious activities, night clubs, funerals, etc.

The statement urged all institutions to ensure social distancing and good hygienic practices are observed.
