The presidential candidate of the Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG), Mr. Kofi Akpaloo has promised to make Ghana emerge as the major sports power in the world over a ten-year period.
He says his administration will start sports academy in every district of the country.
Mr. Akpaloo says his government will invest more in developing other disciplines such as hockey, basketball, tennis, rugby, cricket, athletics, baseball etc. He said his government will invest additional GHc1.600 million annually in sports to create and maintain 46,000 plus jobs in the sports sector.
Also, the LPG government will provide $1,300million to build 11 new first-class stadiums in Bono, Ahafo, Bono East, Savanna, North East, Western Nort, Oti, Upper East, Volta, Upper West and Eastern Regions in partnership with the private sector.
The construction of the projects he explained will provide over 50,000 jobs in the regions and make a significant boost to the local economies.
The project he announced will commence in 2022 and be completed by 2024.
