A 13-year-old boy has been knocked down to death by a speeding vehicle at Nkawkaw in the Eastern Region.
The accident happened on January 1, 2021, at about 8:20pm.
Information gathered indicates that a 45-year-old man identified as Eric Sackey was driving a Toyota Camry with registration number 2780-T from Nkawkaw township to Kwahu -Awenade.
However, on reaching a section of the road at a washing bay near the ‘ME and U’ spot, the speeding car crushed the 13-year-old male child pedestrian -Dotse Emmanuel who was standing on the shoulders of the road.
He sustained life-threatening injuries and was rushed to holy family hospital Nkawkaw by the suspect driver but pronounced dead on arrival.
The Acting Public Relations Officer of the Eastern Regional Police Command, Sargeant Francis Gomado told mybrytfmonline.com that, when the Police visited the Holy Family Hospital in Nkawkaw, the Doctor on duty at the emergency ward informed police that victim Dotse Emmanuel was brought in dead, hence deposited the body at same hospital mortuary for preservation and autopsy.
He said the visibly disturbed driver who was found in the hospital yard was arrested and detained to assist police conduct investigations.
