Government to absorb registration fees for public JHS candidates – Osei Kyei Mensah-Bonsu

The government of Ghana will absorb the examination registration fees for all candidates from the public junior High Schools this year.

Suame lawmaker and Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, Osei kyei Mensah Bonsu said while presenting the 2021 budget statement on behalf of the President of the Republic on Friday, March 12, 2021.

This move, the caretaker Finance Minister explained is to ensure education is freely accessible for all Ghanaians in the country adding government is committed to ensuring education is free at all levels.

It also follows a precedent set by the government to lessen the burden on parents and guardians during the highest point of the novel coronavirus disease in the country.

“Mr. Speaker, Government in 2020, absorbed the examination registration fees for the 403,878 candidates from public Junior High Schools across the country.”

” In 2021, the registration fee for 416,066 candidates from public Junior High Schools will also be absorbed,” Okyei Mensah Bonsu said.
