Kinaata Wins VGMA Songwriter Of The Year Award For The Fourth Time.

“Fante rap god” and highlife musician Martin King Arthur popularly known as Kofi Kinaata has bagged another VGMA Songwriter of the year award.

This year’s Vodafone Ghana Music Awards which was organized to be held at the Dome in Accra from Friday 25th June to Saturday 26th has the highly celebrated highlife artiste claiming the Songwriter of the year award for the fourth time, breaking his own record and also becoming the only artiste to win the award four times.

Winning with his hit song ‘Behind the Scenes’, Kinaata had a fiercely contested category with the likes of Abiana, Diana Hamilton, Epixode, and others being nominees. He first won the Songwriter of the Year in 2016 and claimed it for the second time in the following year.

In the year 2018, Ebony won the award posthumously over the ‘Orekodo’ crooner. The following year was a repetition of the previous as the sensational singer, King Promise, won the award ahead of Kofi.

The hailed fante rapper picked up the award again in 2020, and now in 2021.

Born on 15th April 1990, Kofi was raised in Effiakuma, a residential town in the Western Region.

Winning about 20 plus awards out of over 30 nominations since the start of his career professionally, Kinaata boasts of nationwide hit singles like Oh Azaay, Made In Taadi, Susuka, The Crusade, Single and Free, Time No Dey, No Place Like Home, Confession, Things Fall Apart, Behind The Scene and others.

Currently working as an independent artiste after his exit from the High Grade Family record label in the year 2018, Kofi Kinaata was unveiled in May this year as Brand Ambassador for Enterprise Life together with the celebrated female gospel musician, Diana Hamilton.
