Two MPs survive car crashes in Bono and Volta

Two MPs, one each from either side of the House, survived separate motor crashes on Saturday in the Bono and Volta Regions.

Ignatius Baffour-Awuah, the MP for Sunyani West who is also Minister of Employment and Labour Relations, and the opposition MP representing South Dayi, Rockson Dafeamekpor, were returning from funerals in different locations when the accidents occurred, the police confirmed.
Eyewitnesses said that the minister’s vehicle rammed into a tipper truck on the road between Fiapre and Dumasua.
According to local reports, Baffour-Awuah had to be rushed to the Bono Regional Hospital in Sunyani for treatment.

Dafeamakpor and other colleague MPs were returning from the funeral of the father of the MP for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, when the accident occurred at Aveyime in the Volta Region, the state-owned Daily Graphic reported on its website.
Medical officials say that both MPs are responding to treatment.
