Policeman who had sex with a female suspect charged with rape

A police officer who allegedly had sex with a female criminal being held at the Nkanfoa Police Station in Cape Coast has been remanded by a Cape Coast Magistrate Court.

According to previous reports, Lance Corporal Isaac Apomah, 36, allegedly released a suspect, Theresa Forson, 29, last Saturday in exchange for sex.

Ms Forson was in police detention after being convicted in a theft case and was awaiting sentencing, according to source.

L/Cpl Apomah was charged with rape and assisting the escape of a felon by the court and was remanded.

L/Cpl Apomah was the station officer of the Nkanfoa Police Station on September 25, 2021, when he sent four sachets of “Abe Nsuo,” commonly known as “One Show,” to the station and provided some to the complainant, according to Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Daniel Mensah.

He went on to say that an hour after drinking the “Abe Nsuo,” L/Cpl Apomah told Theresa that the detective on her case was being stubborn and that if she consented to have sex with him, he could let her go free.

She consented to this, according to the prosecutor’s office, and Apomah released her to take a bath.

“Apomah then took Ms Forson’s belongings, which were being held in police custody, including a cellphone, and placed them at the police station’s entrance, signaling her to flee,” ASP Mensah told the court.

He went on to say that when Ms Forson returned home and told her father-in-law what had happened, the two went to the Bakaano Police Station and filed a report.

Theresa was then re-arrested and turned over to the Kotokuraba Police Department, who are now in charge of the investigation.

On October 12, 2021, L/Cpl Apomah is scheduled to appear in court again.
