Ghana’s Sandra Owusu Ansah Nominated In This Year’s FIFA Puskas Awards.

Ghanaian forward, Sandra Owusu-Ansah’s goal against Kumasi Sports Academy Ladies Football Club in the 2020/21 Women’s Premier League (WPL) has been shortlisted in the 2021 FIFA Puskas awards for Best Goal of the season.

The former Supreme Ladies striker on May 8, 2021, scored a stunning equalizer against Kumasi Sports Academy Ladies Football Club last season in the 25th minute, during their rivalry match encounter in week five of the WPL.

Owusu-Ansah scored the goal from 30 yards, to beat Kumasi Sports Academy Ladies’ goalkeeper, Victoria Agyei Antwi.

The striker scored a brace in that match.

The 21-year old sensational player, who plies her trade for ZFK Spartak Subotica in Serbia is the only African Female and Ghanaian among the 11 shortlisted to battle for the FIFA Puskas award this year, with the likes of Riyad Mahrez of Algeria, Erik Manuel Lamela of Argentina, Daniela Sanchez of Mexico and seven others.

The FIFA Puskas award which was created in 2009 is to award footballers either male or female with stunning goals in a particular season.

Meanwhile, the prolific striker joins Emmanuel Agyeman Badu in 2012, Kevin Prince Boateng in 2017 and many others who have received the Puskas award nomination.
