Former President, John Dramani Mahama has rubbished allegations of coup plot from New Patriotic Party (NPP) communicator Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as Abronye DC.
The Bono Regional Chairman of the NPP in an interview with Happy FM early this week alleged that the 2020 presidential candidate of the NDC is plotting with a terrorist group to overthrow the government.
Although John Dramani Mahama had been silent on the accusation in the last few days, he has finally issued a statement to set the records straight.
In a statement issued from his office and signed by his aid Joyce Bawah Mogtari, the former President stresses that he is not plotting to stage a coup d’etat in the country.
“H.E John Dramani Mahama has not met with any group of people, let alone a terrorist group, to plot to stage a coup d’etat.”
“This is not the first time Abronye has made such despicable and reprehensible allegations and caused same to be published about President Mahama and many other leading members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC),” parts of the statement read.
It concludes, “This further clarification, despite reports of a police action against the said Abronye, is simply to re-emphasise President Mahama’s integrity and democratic credentials.”
