Captain Retired Nkrabeah Effah-Dartey, Lead Counsel for Aisha Huang has said, his client is innocent of the charges levelled against her in court.
According to him, the suspect is not a galamseyer therefore the court should set her free.
Recall that Aisha Huang was arrested through a National Security operation after she reportedly ‘sneaked’ into the country to again undertake illegal mining activity.
Aisha is currently facing criminal charges with three others at an Accra Circuit Court.
The other accused persons, all Chinese nationals, are Jong Li Hua, Huang Jei and Huiad Hiahu.
Speaking on Oyerepa FM’s ‘Ghana Te sen? ‘ show, Captain Retired Nkrabeah Effah-Dartey stated emphatically that, his client is not a galamseyer, “Aisha is an innocent Chinese Woman.”
He explained that, no one has been able to provide evidence of Aisha Huang engaging in illegal mining.
The experienced lawyer stated that, not even the Attorney General has been able to provide evidence of Aisha Huang doing galamsey.
“Our constitution says everyone is innocent until court prosecute’s him/her”
“The fact is that, has anyone prosecuted Aisha Huang as a galamseyer? The answer is No”
According to him, it’s only the court that can determine whether Aisha Huang is a galamseyer so until the court proves her guilty no one can say she is guilty.
However, the state has not been able to provide evidence in court that his client engaged in illegal mining.
“They did not even bring one evidence to prove that Aisha Huang is a galamseyer”.
He said, no one has evidence to prove that Aisha Huang is an illegal miner.
