The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Augustine Nana Kwasi Andrews has chastised Dr Mathew Opoku Prempeh over his degenerated comments against former President John Mahama.
Dr Mathew Opoku Prempeh who is the Member of Parliament for Manhyia South Constituency and Minister of Energy, addressing the chiefs and people of Suame in Kumasi during the sod-cutting ceremony on Tuesday lashed the former President (Mahama) for insulting the people of Ashanti during his reign.
The Energy Minister said the people of Ashanti should not dare to vote for Mahama in the 2024 polls because he is not supposed to be president again.
He said, Mahama during his regime insulted Asantes and therefore he (Opoku Prempeh) will deal with him squarely.
“John Mahama isn’t someone who should lead Ghana again.
“We’ve never forgotten about how John Mahama came to Kumasi and insulted us here… We’ll teach him a lesson; we will teach him how to talk to us.”
“I’m fully prepared for John Mahama and I will take care of him”
Responding to Opoku Prempeh’s comments at the NDC presser in Kumasi, Thursday, Nana Kwasi indicated that, the Manhyia South MP lacks sense. He said, under no circumstance should a reasonable person speak against former President Mahama.
According to him, Mahama has done a lot for Ashanti Region and Ghana in general therefore Opoku Prempeh should be wise enough to respect the former President.
“What have you done for the Ashanti region? Don’t compare yourself to Mahama because he has done a lot for this nation.” Nana Kwasi fumed.
