The ruling New Patriotic Party NPP has tagged former President John Mahama as the worst performing president in terms of infrastructural development in the Ashanti Region.
The NPP in a press conference on Thursday October 20, 2022 at Kumasi described the former president as the most “wicked” president who starved the Ashanti Region in his development drive.
The Communications Director for the Ashanti Region Dennis Kwakwa during the conference, maintained that the National Democratic Congress NDC under the leadership of former President John Mahama should be solely held responsible for the recent outcry by some residents in the region over low infrastructural projects.
Touching on the Education sector, Dennis Kwakwa said the Akufo-Addo lead government has embarked on over 207 different school projects in the Ashanti Region alone.
“Putting the free senior high school policy aside, the NPP’s development drive in the Education sector alone is unparalleled compared to the mediocre projects the NDC claimed to have done”.
“Mr Mahama who claimed to have outperformed president Akuffo Addo could only manage just 29 school projects across the country which culminated to only 696 classrooms but the underperforming NPP government has constructed 69 three unit classroom blocks, 175 six unit classroom blocks, one eight unit classroom blocks, 193 twelve unit classroom blocks, 11 eighteen unit classroom blocks totaling 3744 classrooms for the Ashanti Region alone in just four years , and we believe the good people of the region are the better judges “. He said.
Mr Kwakwa however said this calculation is done without adding the ongoing works on the creative arts school at Kwadaso, J.A Kufuor Model School at Dabaa and other STEM schools in the Bosomtwe Constituency.
“Let me add without equivocation that [the NDC is] the government that has proven to be the greatest political scam in the history of the 4th Republic as far as we the people in the Ashanti is concerned “. He said.
He commended President Akuffo Addo for putting the Ashanti Region at heart by providing the needed infrastructure to enhance the livelihood of the people.
