Former Chief Justice Sophia Akuffo has received praise for her boldness from Martin Kpebu, chairperson of the Individual Bond Holders Association of Ghana (IBHAG).
Mr. Kpebu could not help but show his love for the former Chief Justice during his appearance on Citi FM/news TV’s analysis program, The Big Issue.
If more of these people emerge, according to the convener of the Individual Bond Holders Association, the nation will advance significantly.
“In fact, she has changed the face of our democracy, because if our former Chief Justice protests against government that is super. God bless her for it. I call her the Yaa Asantewaa of our time. We need more people to speak. She has strengthened and changed the face of our democracy. She has spoken truth to power,” he added.
On Friday, February 10, 2023, the former Chief Justice joined several retirees in a protest outside the Finance Ministry.
She characterized the government’s action as total disregard for the elderly who have given their lives to the advancement of the country and as pure wickedness.
The administration was also urged by Madam Sophia Akuffo to be open with the people of Ghana about what caused the current economic crisis and how all of the loans were spent.
If the government does not remove retirees from the Domestic Debt Exchange Program, she threatens to file a lawsuit.
