Political reasons drove Bawumia and his MPs to Akwasidae – Alan camp fumes

The camp of Alan Kyerematen has shown great displeasure with over 90 MPs that supported the Vice President at Manhyia.

Recall that, Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia was accompanied by an overwhelming majority of members of parliament (MPs) from the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) in Kumasi for one of the largest Asante festivals, Akwasidea at the Manhyia palace.

Almost 90 members of the majority caucus lined up to attend the event with the vice president.

Mr Kwame Asafo Adjei, former Member of Parliament for Nsuta-Kwamang Beposo Constituency and ardent supporter of Alan, stated in an interview on Oyerepa Breakfast Time Tuesday that, the Vice President and his entourage attended the Akwasidae Festival to campaign for Bawumia and not to celebrate the occasion with Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.

He disclosed that several, party executives, MMDCEs, government appointees, and friends accompanied the vice president to campaign for him.

He further declared that “the MPs received appearance fees for accompanying Dr Mahamudu Bawumia to the Akwasidae festival.”

“Some MPs received GH¢10,000, while others received GH¢20,000.” He alleged.

The former MP went on to state that nothing that occurred at the Akwasidae Festival would shake Alan’s camp or cause them to become terrified.
