The Dwuantuahene of Shama Traditional Council who doubles as the Chief Executive Officer of Lower Pra Rural Bank, Nana Kwamina Dekyi, has declared his intention to contest the upcoming New Patriotic Party parliamentary primaries in Shama.
Speaking at the handing over ceremony of ultra-modern 14-seater toilet facility to the people of Dwomo a suburb of Inchaban in the Shama district of the Western region, Nana Kwamina Dekyi said, he is ready to serve his constituent if he is giving the mandate.
Addressing the gathering, Nana Kwamena Dekyi, intimated that his intention to contest the primaries is to stem from his desire to seek the development and welfare needs of the people of Shama District through aggressive employment and infrastructural drive.
He said, it has come to a time, the leaders in the Shama district work in the interest of the people and bring leadership closer to them.
“As a leader, I have dedicated myself towards serving my people diligently, and I want the District Chief Executive of Shama, Hon. Ebenezer Dazdie, to support my bid to become the candidate for the party in the upcoming constituency primaries.”
“It has been my burden to change the history of Shama with policies and programmes that are aimed at improving the livelihood of the constituents and the entire district when elected as NPP Parliamentary candidate for the party.”
According to him, he has been contributing enormously for the people, but he sometimes gets discouraged and frustrated over the actions of the people who has been in the helm of affairs in the district, hence, his decision to contest to become the MP so that he can execute the developmental drive of the district.
The District Chief Executive for Shama, Ebenezer Dadzie expressed his appreciation to Nana Kwamina Dekyi for the kind gesture.
He said, the move by the Dwuantuahene indicates that there are people who have the development of the district at heart and would do everything within their means to ensure the district develops.
Hon. Ebenezer Dadzie, called for individual suuport to help develop the district, adding that Shama district has 58 communities with different developmental needs which cannot be solved alone by the central government, so when the private entities and individual come to support the developmental drive the district will embrace change.
He pledged his support, saying the entire assembly is solidly behind his developmental agenda for the district.
He advised the people to always ensure the facility is maintained to keep it in good condition for their own benefits.
Mr. Dadzie, appealed to other institutions and individual philanthropist to emulate the actions of the Nana Kwamina Dekyi for the development of the district.
The Assembly Member for Dwomo Electoral Area, James Ateiku, who was happy about the new toilet facility indicated that Dwomo community have a population of over three thousand and could only boost of one toilet facility in the area which is a major problem to the community.
He said the new facility has come on time to address open defecation in the area.
