Our Ghanaian musicians in the diaspora are doing so well in projecting our culture and music to the world. From High -Life, Afro Beats and Afro Pop, and it is imperative that we review their works and how far they have come. So as part of The Review, this is our quarterly look back over the last 9 months of their projects. Having gone back over our stats, we’ve gathered together 10 of the most-popular artistes in January- March 2023, April -June 2023 and July – September 2023. Among all the musicians living and plying their craft in America this year, these are the artistes that really got everyone’s attention.
1. Jay Hover
Crowned as the Artistes of the year at the GMA-USA’s and Ghana Entertainment Awards-USA 2023, his famous hit track ”One Legge” has pushed him to the top as his views on all social media platforms continue to soar and his popularity keeps growing. He is out with a new tune title “We Dey Walk” which is doing pretty very well.
2. Nana NYC
Nana NYC is at the second position; he has performed at so many shows this year alone. He continue to be the most popular among all his compatriots. He remains the oldest musician/rapper Ghana has ever produced in the diaspora. He is currently the all -time GMA-USA hiplife and hip pop artiste winner (2022 and 2023)
3. Jamin Beats
He won Male artiste of the year at GMA-USA 2022 and since then has remain relevant by playing a lot of shows this year. He is a producer and singer of most of his singles. His current hit song “Blessings” remains on the lips of most Ghanaians.
4. Too Wan 8
The duo has performed at several events this year and keep giving their fans a lot to talk about. Their fan base remains one of the biggest in the United States
5. Jay Baba
He stands as a multi -talented artistes who blends high life and Afro Beats, he is not only known in America but very represented in Ghana. He won the Best Collaboration of the year at this year’s GMA-USA
6. Nee Oseye Adeleke
Having won the best high life artiste back-to-back at the GMA USA and other awards in Ghana, the versatile artiste is at the six-position due to his consistency at shows and lifting the Ghanaian highlife music to the top in the diaspora
7. Elizha
Elizha is at the fifth position with her single Bad Love, after Police and having won the State Awards of the year 2022 and Female Vocalist of the year 2023 at the GMA USA, remains the female vocal power in the US of A.
8. Dreams GH
We are not surprise that the “Sexy singer” is at the eight-position due to his style and flare. He has won the hearts of several females in the diaspora. He can be referred to as the Kwabena Kwabena in America
9. K Rocks
K Rocks is at the nineth position with his rap style. His rap delivery has gotten him the position on our list. The ATL based artiste has been featured on several shows this year including DMV Party in the Park and ATL Party in the park
10. Waliy Aboumarna
The New York based artiste is at number 10 with his rap prowess and his stage craft during this year’s GMA- USA. The rapper and singer is among the best Ghanaian rappers in America.
