Akufo-Addo not trustworthy in corruption fight – Franklin Cudjoe

President of IMANI Africa, Franklin Cudjoe, has said he is likely to trust John Dramani Mahama more than President Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo when it comes to fighting corruption.

Franklin Cudjoe says President Akufo-Addo is no trustworthy when it comes to fighting corruption.

President Akufo-Addo, whilst in opposition, tagged himself as the man who has never been corrupt, saying he had robust means to fight the canker, but has produced worse results almost 8 years of being in office.

John Dramani Mahama has on the other hand reemphasised his resolve to fight the menace head-on if he is voted into office again.

He told the audience at the Bukom Boxing Arena in Accra Monday, August 12, 2024, during a townhall meeting with the youth that he is going to hold public office holders accountable if elected.

John Mahama, has promised, that unlike the Akufo-Addo administration, he will not to fight corruption against only his political opponents but his own appointees if given the nod again.

According to Franklin Cudjoe, although John Mahama was equally criticised as President on corruption fight, John Mahama is far better when compared to Akufo-Addo.

“I can understand the caution, but [President] Akufo-Addo is not John Mahama. At least we tested both. As I understand, Akufo-Addo has walked back on some of his words many, many times. No haircut, he gave us a dubious haircut.

“Galamsey (Illegal mining), he said he would put his presidency on the line and nothing has happened because the rivers are worse off now than ever before.

“I should be cautious, but I think I will trust John Dramani Mahama a bit more than [President] Akufo-Addo because unfortunately, Akufo-Addo has proven not to be trustworthy on these things,” the IMANI boss told Accra-based Citi FM.
