President John Dramani Mahama will launch the much-anticipated Adwumawura Programme under the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP) today at the Prempeh Assembly Hall in Kumasi.
The Adwumawura Programme is a key initiative designed to create sustainable jobs and improve livelihoods for young Ghanaians. It targets empowering 10,000 youth, aged between 18 and 45, each year to start and expand their businesses.
Speaking ahead of the event on Oyerepa TV, Joan Salasie Ahiawodor ESQ., Deputy CEO of NEIP, reaffirmed the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government’s strong commitment to addressing youth unemployment.
She emphasised that the Adwumawura Programme is part of President Mahama’s 120-day youth-centred promise aimed at providing meaningful employment opportunities for the nation’s young people.
“As part of our 120-day promise, we are rolling out several youth-focused initiatives. Adwumawura will empower 10,000 youth-led businesses every year,” she said. “We also have the National Apprenticeship Program, which will be launched on Wednesday, as another avenue to equip young people with critical skills for the job market.”
Salasie Ahiawodor said the Adwumawura Programme is expected to significantly ease the unemployment burden by nurturing young entrepreneurs and strengthening Ghana’s small and medium enterprises (SMEs) sector.
