Police nab two with 519 parcels of suspected Indian Hemp in Gomoa Nyanyano

The Central East Regional Police Command has arrested two suspects in possession of substances suspected to be Indian hemp at Gomoa Nyanyano in the Gomoa East District of the Central Region.

The suspects, Eric Nkyeke (30) and Francis Klu (28), were arrested at about 7:40 a.m. on Monday, August 11, 2025, while allegedly offloading 519 compressed parcels of the substance from a Toyota Hilux pick-up truck with registration number GS-6849-21.

The Police in a statement revealed that the Nyanyano District Patrol Team made the seizure during a routine operation.

The suspected drugs have been secured, and the vehicle impounded as part of ongoing investigations.

The statement by the Police, which was issued and signed by DSP Victor Kofi Dosoo, Head of Public Affairs, said, “The Regional Police Command appreciates the arresting officers and reaffirms its commitment to fighting drug-related crimes and ensuring the safety of our communities.”

It warned persons engaged in criminal activities that the law will deal with them if caught.

“We warn all individuals involved in such crimes to desist or face the full rigors of the law if arrested,” the statement added.

“We urge members of the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities related to drugs or crime to the police,” the statement concluded.
