Accra Hearts of Oak kept the dream of clinching the double in the 2020-2021 season alive after beating Medeama SC in the MTN FA Cup semi-finals to reach the final.
Benjamin Afutu’s header in the 12th minute through a connected cross made sure the Phobian’s were up by 1-0.
The mauve and yellows were desperate to overturn the deficit before the end of first half but all their chances was thrown to the wind.
Both team came back in the second half with Medeama pressing the Phobians to overturn the deficit but the Phobians exuded the “never say die” character on the field as they never gave them the chance.
Accra Hearts of Oak sealed the lead in the 58th minute through Caleb Amankwah who dribbled his way pass goalkeeper Frank Boateng to slot the ball into the net of Medeama SC.
Accra Hearts of Oak despite their lead made sure complacency never played a role as they kept pressing resulting into a penalty the 78th minute through a foul on Daniel Afriyie Barnie by Medeama SC goalkeeper, Frank Boateng which Daniel Afriyie Barnie slotted the ball into the net after his first was saved but was retaken.
Accra Hearts of Oak will be facing Ashantigold in the finals of the MTN FA Cup on Sunady 8th, August 2021.
