Former Vice President and 2024 Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, paid a visit to Rev. John Ntim Fordjour after an attempt to arrest him in his residence by officials of the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB).
The attempted arrest is linked to ongoing investigations into suspected drug trafficking and money laundering activities involving two international flights that passed through Ghana in March 2025.
The incident occurred on April 9 and was met with firm resistance from the Minority caucus in Parliament, who condemned the action as politically motivated.
Rev. Ntim Fordjour, who serves as Member of Parliament for Assin South and the Ranking Member of the Defence and Interior Committee, was described by Dr Bawumia as being “in high spirit and undaunted” despite the incident. “
“Last night, following the attempted raid by some alleged officials of the National Investigations Bureau (NIB), I visited Hon. Rev. John Ntim Fordjour. Rev. Fordjour was in high spirit and undaunted,” Dr Bawumia posted on Facebook on April 9.
