Visa Policy reduces travel application processing to 5 days

Ghana’s Minister in Charge of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has announced the implementation of Ghana’s new reset visa policy.

Under the new policy, the minister disclosed that visa applications to travel to Ghana will now be processed within a maximum of 5 working days.  The new policy, he said in a Facebook post, takes immediate effect.

The minister, who is also the MP for North Tongu, said the ministry has put in place adequate measures at the various diplomatic missions to cut down the visa processing time from 6 weeks to five working days.

He was, however, quick to add that reducing the processing days to five does not mean automatic visa approval.

“I must however add that this 5-day visa processing policy does not by any stretch of imagination mean automatic visa approval; a decision will be made within 5 working days as to whether one is eligible for a Ghanaian visa or not.”

As Foreign Minister, I am committed to positioning Ghana as the preferred destination for investors and tourists by making Ghana strongly competitive and eliminating bureaucratic bottlenecks.
